What is Zithromax?

Zithromax is an antibiotic designed to combat bacterial infections, addressing a diverse range of conditions such as respiratory, skin, ear infections, and sexually transmitted diseases. Its use is specifically recommended for proven or strongly suspected bacterial infections to mitigate the development of drug-resistant bacteria.

Warnings

Exercise caution if you have a history of jaundice or liver problems induced by azithromycin, the active ingredient in Zithromax. Prior to usage, individuals should not have allergies to azithromycin or related drugs like clarithromycin, erythromycin, or telithromycin.

Before Taking this Medicine

Before using Zithromax, consult with your doctor if you have a history of liver or kidney disease, myasthenia gravis, heart rhythm disorders, low potassium levels, or long QT syndrome. Zithromax is generally considered safe during pregnancy, but it’s essential to inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It’s unclear whether azithromycin passes into breast milk, so nursing mothers should discuss this with their healthcare provider. Zithromax is not suitable for children below 6 months of age.

Shake the oral suspension thoroughly before measuring a dose, using the provided dosing syringe or an appropriate measuring device.

What Happens if I Miss a Dose?

What Happens if I Overdose?

In the event of an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.

What to Avoid

Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium should not be taken within 2 hours before or after Zithromax, as they can diminish its effectiveness. Caution is advised against exposure to sunlight or tanning beds, and alcohol consumption should be avoided.
